The greendex: a green index

Abstract

Greendex is a recent measure of consumer awareness towards environment introduced. The first series of this  new measure was   released jointly by the National Geographic Society and a global polling-firm GlobeScan on May8,2008.The Greendex is the first of its kind in the sense that it tries to measure the environmental awareness at the individual level. The basic idea behind construction of the Grendex is that the consumption pattern of a consumer reveals her consciousness regarding environmental pollution caused by human activities.
